Mt Kilimanjaro Climb, Tanzania
9 days/8 nights
USD $2,150 per person includes Mt Kili park fees
It is the highest freestanding mountain in the world - lies 3 degrees below the equator, is contained entirely within Tanzania, and is one of Africa's youngest volcanoes. At 5 895m it is Africa's highest mountain. Any reasonably fit person can reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, and there are several routes available. We recommend six or more days to allow for acclimatization. You will ascend from the steaming tropical rain forests, through heathland to alpine desert, finally reaching the permanent glaciers and the summit, Uhuru Peak.
Our Adventure Specialist Anne likes to recommend the following two routes:
Machame Route (7 days hike and 2 nights Moshi Hotel)
This route offers some of the best scenery ascending from the western side of Kilimanjaro, and descending down the south face. All tents and camping equipment are portered for you, with meals being prepared by
Cooks.
Rongai Route (7 days hike and 2 nights Moshi hotel)
This route begins on the northern slopes of the mountain, and is one of the least travelled routes. It is a long drive to the starting point, but the rewards are the fantastic views and the likelihood that you will be the only climbers.
